In the UK, a surgeon must be a qualified medical practitioner registered with the General Medical Council. Additionally, Enhance Hair Restoration are members of the British Association of Hair Restoration Surgery (BAHRS).

OUTSIDE OF THE UK

Outside of the UK, surgeons are often unlicensed and unregistered. Additionally, it is unlikely that you will be meeting your hair transplant surgeon before the day of your procedure.

Whilst there are some excellent surgeons practising hair-loss surgery outside of the UK, there are equally many unscrupulous practitioners who don’t have the qualifications or experience for the job.

There are as many as six out of every 10 clinics operating illegally as a result of the rise in popularity of medical tourism. Clinics may not be the most comfortable or be everything you may hope for.

In the UK, it is required by law that all hair restoration surgeons  must be registered with the CQC – Care Quality Commission. Additionally, hair transplant surgery must be performed in a CQC registered facility. The CQC makes hair transplantation  services provide people with safe, effective, well-led and high-quality care.

OUTSIDE OF THE UK

Surgeons outside of the UK may not have the proper licence to carry out hair transplant procedures. Some clinics outside of the UK flout regulations in their desire to accommodate more clients.

Outside of the UK, you won’t be guaranteed you will have a successful transplant performed by highly experienced surgeons. With language barriers, travel restrictions and aftercare issues, having a hair transplant outside of the UK isn’t always straightforward.
