Male Hair Loss
We provide leading hair loss treatments for men at our hair transplant clinics across The UK. Our team of professional at Enhance Hair Restoration go out of their way to educate male patients on the reasons for male pattern hair loss, and the solutions available through hair transplant surgery with Enhance. We provide leading, results focussed male hair loss treatments, as we offer innovative hair loss remedies and procedures to bring back your confidence. DHT is a hormone associated with sexual characteristics in males, and it could be a contributing factor to male pattern hair loss. The presence of DHT can stunt the growth of hair follicles until growth stops completely. Enhance Hair Restoration primarily performs surgical procedures known as Follicular Unit Transplantations (FUT) and Follicular Unit Extractions (FUE). These procedures are done using local anaesthesia and innovative technology.
The Stages of Male Pattern Baldness
-
Stage 1The front of the hairline starts to show noticeable recession
-
Stage 2The recession becomes increasingly more noticeable, and it becomes obvious
-
Stage 3The top of the head starts to show a bald spot. This could also be the first stage of the process if there is no noticeable recession.
-
Stage 4The hair on the crown is completely gone and the patient is left with no hair on top at all.

Phases of Hair Loss
-
The Anagen PhaseThe most active time of growth for male hair follicles is referred to as the Anagen phase. This is a phase that can last anywhere from two to six years and sees an average growth period of three years for normal, healthy hair. On average, approximately 80 percent of all follicles are in the Anagen phase simultaneously. When the growth period is less than two years, that opens the door for balding.
-
The Catagen PhaseAs a male’s hair transitions from healthy to balding, it passes through the Catagen phase. On a healthy head of hair, up to four percent of all hair follicles are in the Catagen phase. But when the body starts to transition to balding, this phase takes over a larger number of follicles. During this phase, the hair will stop growing for anywhere from two to three weeks, but it is not yet falling out.
-
The Telogen PhaseThe Telogen phase is the point where hair starts to fall out. We always like to remind patients that 10 to 14 percent of our entire head of hair is in this stage at all times. That is why we see hair on our pillow in the morning, or in the shower drain. But when that 10 to 14 percent ratio starts to rise, the body begins to shed hair faster than it can be replaced, and that is when it is time to talk to Enhance Hair Restoration.
